JANET SELKIRK – LIBERAL DEMOCRATS

Although not originally “from around here”, I have chosen to live in an area I consider “England’s best kept secret”, where I have family connections.

I moved here from Devon early in 2007 and quickly became involved in local issues. I set up our local Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and then successfully campaigned to reduce the speed limit on the A1033 at Bridge Bungalows. I also obtained agreement from ERYC to improve the drainage and reinstate the pavements there. I am a member of Thorngumbald Parish Council and a Trustee of Ryehill Village Hall.

Having suffered secondary flooding from the 2007 floods, I am particularly concerned at the issues regarding drainage and flood defence in the area, as well as local environmental issues, e.g. Saltend water treatment plant and the state of our roads.

I sincerely believe the Liberal Democrats are the best medium for local people to express their concerns and thereby influence ERYC decisions, and I welcome the opportunity to seek election to represent and work for the interests of the South West Holderness residents.
